Discussion panel speakers confirmed

Dr. Manfred Meier, the head of the department "University Cooperation" at the Volkswagen AG AutoUniversity has confirmed his participation for the discussion panel on Thursday the 25th of June 2015. Together with Natascha Eckert (Department Head University and Research Cooperation at SIEMENS) and several other panelists they will discuss and reflect on the role of business in university-industry interaction.

2015 UIIC dinner taking place at an extraordinary location E-Werk Berlin!

The conference dinner will be held at an extraordinary location: 'E-Werk'. This is where the generation of electrical power began in Berlin. In 1881 the Berlin Electrical Plant AG (E-Werk) purchased the English Edison patent to produce electricity and use light bulbs, being the first power plant in Berlin and introduce street lighting. Being abondoned of active power distribution in 1985, it later on served as the birthplace of techno music and as a breeding ground for leading technological solutions.

E-Werk is located right in the city centre of Berlin located 200 metres / 2 minutes walk from Checkpoint Charlie, 700 metres / 10 minutes walk from DBB Forum (Conference location), 1000 metres from the Brandenburger Gate and 600 metres from the Gendarmenmarkt.

The DBB Forum will open its doors for the 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference. Located right at the centre of Berlin, this unique location will be the location for the two main conference days. With just a few minutes walk from the Brandenburger Gate, Museum Island, Gerndarmenmarkt, Checkpoint Charlie and E-Werk (the conference dinner location), the DBB Forum is a unique location providing access to unique parts of Berlin.

The interest in the University-Industry Interaction Conference remains high. With nearly 300 abstracts submitted, the scientific and practitioners committee were again set for a challenge to review a large number of abstracts and judge upon who can present on their research or practice experiences. Following an extensive double-blind review process, the abstracts of the highest quality were accepted for a presentation and potentially a paper or good practice publication. An overview of all presentations, case studies, posters and next practice cases can now be found online.

Scott Shane - author of the bestseller "Illusions of Entrepreneurship" - confirmed as keynote speaker

The organizers are happy to confirm one of the bestselling authors on Entrepreneurship. Scott Shane will provide his perspective on entrepreneurship in the university-industry ecosystem.

He has written extensively about entrepreneurship and innovation. His book Illusions of Entrepreneurship: The Costly Myths That Entrepreneurs, Investors, and Policy Makers Live by (Yale University Press, 2008) was one of the top ten business books of the year for Amazon.com. His 2005 book Finding Fertile Ground: Identifying Extraordinary Opportunities for New Businesses won the 2006 Golden Book Award for best business book of the year and has been translated into eight languages.

The author of numerous scholarly articles and books about many aspects of entrepreneurship, Shane was the 2009 winner of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research, the most prestigious award in this academic field. Shane has also written extensively for popular audiences, currently penning regular columns the Entrepreneur small business website. He has been a frequent commentator on television programs, appearing on CNN and Fox Business, and he has been a guest on dozens of radio talk shows across the globe.

John Bessant confirmed as keynote speaker at the 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference

We're happy to confirm that John Bessant will be one of the keynote speakers at the 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference. With a tremendous amount of experience on managing innovation and entrepreneurship John Bessant will provide his insights on the cooperation between university and business.

Professor John Bessant, originally a chemical engineer, has been active in research, teaching and consultancy in technology and innovation management for over 25 years. He has authored more than 20 books and monographs on the topic, of which most recently Managing Innovation (5th edition, 2013), Strategic Innovation Management (1st edition 2014) and Innovation & Entrepreneurship (2nd edition 2011).

2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference goes to Berlin

Get ready to meet around 400 participants from all over the world to share knowledge, interact and build new co-operations. From June 24 to June 26 2015, the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) will host the 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference in Berlin, Germany. This conference is the key event for academics, researchers, practitioners and business representatives involved in university-industry interaction, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The 2015 University-Industry Interaction Conference is not ‘just another conference’, but the event to network, learn and experience. During this three day event, you can visit a wide variety of presentations, workshops, tours and participate in numerous networking opportunities. With the conference taking place in the innovation and entrepreneurship hub of Europe, Berlin, all aspects are in place for the perfect conference experience.

This year's UIIN conference will place even more emphasis on facilitating interaction and creating cooperation. In addition to the academic and practitioner presentations, the conference will also focus more on good practice case studies and ‘next-practices’. Furthermore a student case study competition will be organised, allowing entrepreneurial students to pitch their solution to a leading corporation in Germany. You will also be able to visit several start-ups and research centres in Berlin.

We are now calling for abstracts for papers, presentations good practice case studies, next practice concepts and posters. All abstracts will be reviewed by a scientific or practitioners committee and will be published, in either the series or the next-practice book (all registered with ISBN number).The deadline for the submission of abstracts is December 15, 2014.
